Old Times

Thursday night Corina and I went to a kanikapila/potluck for the Moa 'Ohana at the Hawaiian Cultural Center. It was SOOO much fun!! There was a ton of good food and good music. Unko Bobby sang for everyone and he still get um!! Here's one of my ALL time favorites that he sings, Akaka Falls. Sorry for the frequent cheering. haha.

It was soooo good to see everyone. Reed them and Aunty Web were there too!! Corina made sure that we got lots of pictures!

Back from the dead

OH geez, so it's been FOREVER since my last post, as you already know haha. Almost a year! haha. Wow that is kind of sad. Well... I guess I'll give you a quick rundown of what happened in my life for the last year.

1. I finished my first year in college. It wasn't too bad, and I semi-decided on a major: physics. I'm not too sure how well this will go, but I'm giving it a shot. I'm kinda worried haha.
2. I bought an ukulele!! I had brought my bass with me to college but its kinda hard sometimes to really jam all by yourself with just a bass haha. So I decided to buy an ukulele, a lanikai with a pickup. It's pretty nice, and I love it!
3. Reshley and I created a band. Kind of. hahahah! We started jamming a lot during the winter semester because he got an ukulele for his birthday, and he started writing songs and now we are Ho'okoni. haha. we have sooo much fun jamming with all of our friends, its hilarious. i
4. I got an internship in a Biology lab for polynesian students for the spring semester at BYU with Reshley and Corina. My priority in this internship was to clone Orthoptera DNA. As crazy and as not me as that sounds, I actually kind of liked it. I also love love love all the people that I worked in the lab with. I liked the internship so much, that I stayed for summer semester as well to work in the lab. Crazy? Yes.
5. I came to the realization -- well, more of a reconfirmation -- that I really do not like Utah haha. I'm not really sure why, maybe its the crazy drivers or the fact that Utah = school. haha. It really is kind of painful to drive away from home and into Utah, knowing that all there is for me here is classes and tests. hahaha. But its okay... I really love the opportunities and education that BYU can give me, which is pretty much making it worth it to live here.
6. Katchafire came to IDAHO!!!! and they were the BEST! They played at the reef, which is a pretty small venue, and so we were easily able to stand right in the front. and I mean RIGHT in the front. I could have climbed up on the stage if I wanted to and jam with them if I wanted to be kicked out. But I wanted to stay and enjoy their amazing harmonies haha. They were also all really chill and took time afterwards to talk and take pictures with us. Coolest guys ever.
7. Went to an 'Ohana Johnson reunion in Vegas!! That was so much fun. the weather was RIDICULOUS, the highest being 120 degrees F. We got hot just thinking about going outside haha.
8. I got new glasses!! haha. I actually lost mine a couple of months ago, and the loss of them really made me realize JUST how blind I am. It was actually kind of funny to realize that my eyesight had really gotten that bad. But yeah. I like my new glasses.

Hmm, I think thats all the important stuff. I hope haha. I'm going to try and be more consistent in my posts... since this is kind of like I'm starting all over again anyways haha. Reshley also suggested that I start a "vlog," which is a video version of... this. haha. I'm considering it. Maybe I'll just make videos and tell you about my life instead of typing it all out... I haven't quite decided yet.

So today we had a farewell party for Matt in the lab. We went to Brick Oven and ordered some pizza, one of which was a pepperoni pizza with a quarter of it cheese. How would you interpret that? Well, the cooks interpreted it as a full pepperoni pizza with a quarter percent of the cheese they normally put on top. It was SO funny; we were all wondering why the pizza looked so saucy. After we went to Brick Oven we went bowling in the BYU bowling alley... and I am proud to say I bowled a 52. Ok, I'm not really that proud to own up to that, it is actually a really horribly sad score, but it was hilarious. Beka was freakin awesome, got a spare or a strike every... square... I think haha. It was a lot of fun, but I am SO sad Matt is leaving!! The lab will not be the same without him.

Afterwards I went home and jammed for a little bit, and then found out that I got Stacie's Blackberry in the mail (oh, becuase I dropped my Pixi in the rain one day and forgot about it until like, a half an hour later. Yeah, perfect way to destroy my phone haha. It recovered for a little bit, but it is now feeling the effects of the rain and will randomly turn off by itself, not charge all the way, and run super slow. I'm so sad cuz I love my phone, but I'm okay with moving to a Blackberry.)! Now I have to figure out how to use the thing and transfer my number and contacts and all that good stuff. Phew.

Hm... I guess that's all I'll write for today, and maybe next time I'll be more productive and actually post some pictures. :D
